Yellow strip on milestone indicates:-

While walking or travelling on the road,If you see the yellow strip at the top of the milestone.Then you have to understand that you are going to a national highway.

This means that Yellow painted milestone indicates the national highway.

Green strip on milestone indicates:-

If you see a milestone having the green strip on the upper part of it,then it means that you are not on the National Highway but on the State Highway.

This means that Green painted milestone indicates the State Highway.

Blue or black strips on milestone imdicates:-

If you see a blue stripped milestone or a black and white one, you are travelling in a city or on a district road.

This means that blue or black painted milestone indicates the City or a District Road.

Orange colour stripe on milestone indicates:-

When you see a Orange strip landmark on the side of the road then it means you have entered in village. This strip also represents Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

This means that Orange painted milestone indicates Village.
