Broken White Line :
Continuous White Line :
A continuous white line is a tad stricter. It express that you are not allowed to overtake other vehicles or take U-turns. If you are on this type of road, just keep moving straight. But this rule can vary from one state to another. For e.g in Telangana, a solid yellow line means no overtaking.
Continuous Yellow Line :
One Continuous Yellow Line gives you the permission to overtake other vehicles but when you are on your side(without crossing the yellow line).
Double Continuous Yellow Line :
A Double Continuous Yellow line indicates that changing lane or overtaking other vehicles is not allowed over solid yellow line. This pattern is usually seen on dangerous 2-lane roads where there is a high potential for disasters.
Broken Yellow Line :
Like the broken white line, while driving over the broken yellow line, one can pass the vehicles, but with caution.
Now you know what these lines are for. The next time you're on the road, try looking for people who follow these rules. Well, if there are any.
